Expression Through Poetry
On Grief by Erykah Maglio
Grief is a distant screaming, Lashing and thrashing, Begging to be seen, While trying to live life with a slate wiped clean, It screams of the pain and the sorrow, Recognizing that those thoughts are soon to follow, But what will become when they are a little too late, This inevitable fate, Soon to set in are the strengths from within, A place you never thought you'd be, A silence you never thought you'd see, When every day feels like a gamble, When you know sooner or later, you'll find a handle, When the nightmares turn to comedies, When no longer afraid of those monstrosities, When you can conquer what is still lingering there, When you can once again appreciate the wind in your hair, You can once again stand tall, Look around at them all, Smile and say "I've healed my own way" |
